Business Management (Certificate of Proficiency) – 45 Credits

The Business Management Program Certificate of Proficiency is designed for those who hold degrees from other areas of study or for individuals who wish to acquire basic leadership skills in management to improve employment opportunities. The certificate is awarded upon the successful completion of a minimum of 45 quarter credits with an overall grade point average of 2.0. Students are required to successfully complete a required Business Management core plus 16 credits from a selection of additional Business Management courses. If a student wishes to continue taking courses within the Business Management discipline, successfully completed coursework from this certificate program can be applied to the Business Management ATA degree.

Upon successful completion of the Business Management Certificate of Proficiency, students will have demonstrated the ability to apply their skills and knowledge in the following ways:

  1. Articulate the relationship of leadership and how it relates to the functions of management.
  2. Effectively apply components to the accounting equation to basic business transactions.
  3. Effectively use oral and written communication skills as they relate to the business environment.
  4. Effectively use computer software to support basic business information systems.
  5. Show respect and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse individuals and teams.
  6. Develop strategies that foster personal and professional growth and the ability to manage change in a global business environment.

Since not all courses in the Business Management program are offered every quarter, this degree provides a great deal of flexibility in allowing the student to choose any 16 additional credits from the program's course work after completion of a required number of core courses.
