Math 142   Pre-Calculus II : Trigonometry- ONLINE -SUMMER  2019

This course will require you to watch videos and be active with reading the material on your own time.  This is a  6 WEEK COURSE, you will need to balance your schedule wisely and be sure to pay attention to the various due dates.  Read through the syllabi and make note of the weekly calendar on the last page below.  This course is going to require quite a commitment on your end to be successful with the material.  This is NOT a canvas based course.

  • An email of the course information including the course syllabus will be sent on Sunday June 30 to all online students OC email account, students must read this email.
     
  • Students must check OC email to find out how to register into the course website and get course information.  If you do not know how to access your OC email account, please contact the OC Help Desk, 360-475-7600 or visit https://www.olympic.edu/services/computer-labs/accounts
     
  • Textbook/Web Learning Platform (WebAssign) -  The math department has switched to a new publisher, Cengage, which uses a learning platform called WebAssign.  There are a variety of options for students to choose regarding accessing WebAssign.  One of the most promising options is called Cengage Unlimited (which included access to WebAssign) and allows students to access any Cengage Product.  If you are taking chemistry, biology, economics, ... and they are using a cengage products then you will have access to their text here.  This is a relatively new option and the department is working on how to best use this feature.  You can also buy a standalone WebAssign account which only last the duration of the course textbook.
     
  • You will need a WebAssign student account  for this course.  You can purchase a WebAssign student  kit from the OC bookstore.  You will need the course enrollment key  which can be found within the syllabi on page 1..
     
  • All students must be enrolled in the WebAssign online learning system by 11:59pm on Tuesday July 2.  If you have not enorlled by then you will be removed from the course.
     
  • For students who used WebAssign for the first quarter of this course online will just need the course code  for this course which can be found in the syllabi.
     
  • Be sure to register with an email that you check frequently, as I will be updating you almost daily to make sure you are aware of activities in the class.
     
  • The college administration has asked that faculty teaching online post the following message to students:

    For all Olympic College students: The official email address used to communicate with you is the Olympic College-assigned student email address. Your email address is your full firstname and lastname with the @student.olympic.edu at the end. (For example: johndoe@student.olympic.edu)
