 Syllabus for CIS 201 Networking Lab

  • Concurrent enrollment in CIS 236, CIS 240, CIS 242, CIS 245, CIS 270, CIS 271, CIS 272, CIS 273, or CIS 274


Course Description:

Students meet in the T-213 Lab (or the new T-205 Lab) to plan, develop, and test exercises and hands-on projects assigned in the networking and security course(s) being taken concurrently.  This course may be repeated for a maximum of 9 credits.

Course Learning Objectives:

Upon successful completion of this course you will be able to:

  • Complete the assigned Hands-On Projects, Case Projects, and Case Studies which need to be accomplished outside of regularly scheduled class time.
  • Overcome the challenges of completing your most difficult coursework by working in a lab environment where staff help is available during "open lab" hours to assist you with your Hands-On Lab and Case Projects
  • Gain access to specialized equipment and/or software for the purpose of completing assigned coursework that would be difficult or impossible to complete in one of the General Purpose open labs or at home (i.e. "off-campus")


Course Learning Outcomes: The student will successfully complete their coursework and lab work which requires specialized software, hardware, and/or test equipment in an environment that is conducive for learning and in an environment where staff members and faculty are readily available for help and assistance with the challenges that naturally arise when working with complex and advanced technologies with which students are unfamiliar.
