Macintosh OS X for IT Professionals

Course Description:

This course is designed to provide an in-depth breadth of functionality of the Mac OS X operating system suitable for IT Professionals and students alike. The course is based upon the same criteria used for Apple's official training course and uses the only Apple officially recognized text providing the student with similar technical information and procedures used by Apple-certified technicians to install configure, maintain and diagnose computers running Mac OS X. The course combines lectures, study exercises and exams that will provide practical real-world experience.

Course Objectives:

Upon success completion of this course you will be able to:

  • Install and verify a successful installation of Mac OS X.
  • Create and manage administrator and user accounts
  • Use basic command line utilities for navigation and file manipulation Recognize the file system structure, file systems supported and file types that are unique to OS X
  • Understand applications supported by Mac OS X and the relationship of processes and  applications
  • Apply and troubleshoot both Ethernet and airport based basic networking configurations.
  • Connect to common network services and resources
  • Manage peripherals, printers and PDF workflows.
  • Identify and troubleshoot the phases of the Mac OS X startup process
  • Demonstrate readiness to complete the Apple Certified Support Professional (ACSP) Exam
