IEEE 1394 versus BlueTooth™ versus USB 2.0/3.0 –

The ability to connect external peripherals to the Macintosh computer is facilitated by the use of many different technologies.  Some of these technologies are shared by other platforms such as the IBM-compatible PC.  The IBM PC-compatible PC platform has had RS-232 and IEEE 1284 as well as other standards for connecting peripherals, in addition to the other standards listed here.  What are the some of the characteristics of IEEE 1394, BlueTooth™, and USB which make it particularly suitable for use when hooking up high-capacity, high-speed, short-distance devices to the Macintosh computer?

What are the differences/similarities between these technologies and when should one be used (in what situations) as opposed to the other(s)?

Compare and contrast the old style BIOS firm to the new UEFI technology and give your opinion as to which you think is superior.
